Oil Pastel on Cream Cartridge

15cm x 21cm

Individual Project (Royal College of Art)

This series of drawings are a result of a colour workshop led by my tutor, Ella Doran. We were asked to pick a painting and deeply explore the the colours of the painting at different scales - zoomed in and out. I was drawn to Michael Taylor’s painting, ‘Goodbye Bacons and Eggs.’ I loved the loose paint strokes and strong use of yellows and browns interspersed with grey throughout. Although this was a one-off workshop, I love the playful, spontaneous and experimental qualities of this drawing exercise. I channeled the stress from final exam stress into this explosion of colour. 32 oil pastel studies in a loose series.
