Kindergarten of Sharp Light

January 2014 - May 2014

Semester Project of Various Media & Sizes (Cornell University)

Individual Project (Professor Iñaqui Carnicero & Val Warke)

Freshman year emphasized the importance of model making and using an iterative process. The exploration of form in the Roman Villa, Louis Kahn’s diagram and Casa Pentimento (Jose María Sáez & David Barragán) resulted in a submerged kindergarten where children follow the changing patterns of light throughout the day. I purposely kept scale and program ambiguous because the energy of exploration and my fascination with detail and corners shines through.

Every program has a dedicated pavilion with edges that are beveled differently to allow different levels and types of lights to permeate the space. Kids will be entertained and enlightened by the different lighting conditions during the day.

Project featured in SCALES exhibition organized by AAP at the Sibley Hall space in Spring 2015
